They will not remember anything of their previous time in Pearl, except that:

You have the strong feeling that you had a loved BEST friend on Achilles. You can not remember their name, or their face, but when you think back on it, it fills you with a strong sense of loneliness. Other families heard about it, you were kind of a laughing stock.
Though you can't recall the exact details, you are certain that last year you were amazing at your role. At the time you felt thrilled and intended to never let anyone forget it.
Last year is an undefined blur of watching a bunch of excitable assholes kill each other. Maybe not a bad plan, for the ones who won, anyway. You mostly took cheap wins where you could find them, not getting your asses kicked but you didn't exactly rank high, did you? Some of the team had wanted to be in on more action, but really no one had too much of a problem just popcorning.

These memories are a bit fuzzy, much like remembering the mechanics of the world, the knowledge is there but a lot of deeper understanding or contextual knowledge is missing. But hey! It's better than nothing.
